My Documents Ownership Issue
I installed Windows 7 on a separate partition of my hard drive. I somehow took ownership of the My Documents folder I have in my other partition (running under Windows XP), and now I'm unable to access my files or folders in My Documents when I'm running XP on my account. I can only access the folder and its contents while logged in to my account in Windows 7. How can I remove the ownership so I can access it on my XP account?

- Right click on the folder in question - Choose Properties- Choose Security- Hit the Advanced button.- Click the Owner Tab- Click Edit- Make sure the box Change Owner To: has your Winxp account listed. - Check the box Replace owner on subcontainers and objects. Apply it and it should replace Win7 account permissions with WinXP account permissions. - Click okay all the back out and try it out. David Dracoules

My Windows XP account is not listed in the Change Owner To: box, only my Windows 7 user account.

You will need to do this from your XP instance and not within Windows 7.Joe
