My Admin has lost write access to some folders and the CD-ROM
I have to use a Guest account to access the CD-ROM. I am unable to backup my Iphone to the computer because I dont have update permission. What would cause this? What is the best way to rectify the situation?

"My Admin has lost write access to some folders and the CD-ROM" By this do you mean the Administrator account doesn't have access, or the admin as in the operator of system? Typically Update Settings and permisssions are modified by the Local Administrator account, so you'd need access to that account or one equivelent to it to modify the update settings. And this is assuming you don't have GPO's applied to the machine which probhit even the local admin from modifying the update settings. "What would cause this?" Maybe using the Guest account, there are limitations of permissions that certain accounts have. Try using a standard account.

There are several reasons for the issues that permissions configurations are corrupt. You may try to change the ownerships of the folders and change the permission settings. Make sure that admin account is the owner and has correct rights. Take Ownership of a File or Folder If it does not help, run sfc/scannow to try to repair the system so the permissions are restored. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
