Hi Apologies if this is the wrong forum as i am not sure if it is a PC or server issue We had a Windows 2003 R2 server with a Share Drive "S" that everyone accessed. Drives on user PC's are mapped using a logon script. This server was also a DC. Server name is whaserver. We recently installed Windows 2008 R2 Virtual machine called whafilesvr which is the new DC. Our 2003 server is now a member server. All data was transferred to the new server and mapped drives point to the new whafilesvr. Share folder on old server was Unshared and users have been accessing all data on the new server. A couple of days ago one user reported that she had the mapped drive to the new whafileservr but also multiple drive letters used all pointing to the old share on the old server. Share (\\whafilesvr) S which is correct Share (\\whaserver) T which is wrong old server Share (\\whaserver U also wrong old server etc etc.for all letters showing about 15 mapped drives to old server On her PC i opened one of these old mapped drives and most sub folders had a grey X but some didn't and i could browse these folders without the X no problem. I tried this on several other PC's and couldn't see the old share drive. I also tried browsing using UNC path and was unable to see the old share which is as expected. I manually disconnected all the extra drives on this PC. The following day these reappeared one by one over the course of the day. Logon script is only mapping new server drives. As a test i moved the Share folder on the old server to a new folder called Old Share and opened one of the mapped drives and could still see and browse to all the data. 1. Does anyone know why these drives are appearing randomly. 2. Why can this user see data on an unshared drive 3. Why can you see data on a mapped drive even when the location of the data has changed but the mapped path hasn't. This is only occurring on the one PC out of 40 in our offices. Thanks
