Multiple IPs on a interface share connectivity issues
I'm running Windows 7 64-bit in an AD environment.
Many times I add an additional IP(s) to my LAN interface so I can work on network devices that will be installed in other subnets of our network. Today I ran into an interesting issue. I could no longer connect to my mapped SMB shares on our
netapp.
What I found in my troubleshooting was when I went into 'Network > Properties' my active network had a yellow yield symbol and was labeled "unauthenticated". When I clicked on it, I was asked to select whether this was home, work, internet connection,
etc. Once I removed the additional IPs, my active network immediately switched to "Domain network" and I was able to connect to my network shares again. BTW, I've been working on a number of these devices for about a week with these additional
IPs setup and the problem just happened now.
Does anyone know what is happening? I checked the Event Viewer and saw a few cryptic errors but nothing specific about this. This is something new in Win 7 (possibly Vista?) that didn't exist in XP which was much less secure. Also, is there
a way to prevent this from happening outside of removing the additional IPs?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Do any of your IPs have overlapping subnets?
Also did you check your routing table?
