Multiple BCCodes, can only boot in safe made
Hello, I just started having this problem today. I keep getting BSODs, though they flash too quickly for me to get any info from them. Ever since the first one, I have not been able to boot normally without getting a BSOD between entering my password and the desktop appearing. I have been booting into Safe Mode with Networking to try to figure the problem out, although with (obviously) limited success there. I keep getting random BSODs when in Safe Mode as well, such as when I tried uninstalling my antivirus (BSOD there) and reinstalling it (BSOD again). First I'll give you my system info, though wasn't able to pull it from the system info accesible through the Control Panel (will explain later): MSI GT660R CPU: Intel Core i7-740QMVGA: NVIDIA Geforce GTX 285M / 1 GB DDR3RAM: DDR3 6 GB (2 GB*3)HDD: 1 TB (500GB*2 RAID 0) 7200 RPM I've gotten numerous different post-crash messages, copy-pasted below: Problem signature: Problem Event Name: BlueScreen OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3 Locale ID: 1033 Additional information about the problem: BCCode: 7a BCP1: 0000000000000001 BCP2: FFFFFFFFC0000005 BCP3: FFFFFA800B665210 BCP4: FFFFF68000027000 OS Version: 6_1_7601 Service Pack: 1_0 Product: 768_1 Files that help describe the problem: C:\Windows\Minidump\042912-19515-01.dmp C:\Users\Paul\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-60559-0.sysdata.xml Problem signature: Problem Event Name: BlueScreen OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3 Locale ID: 1033 Additional information about the problem: BCCode: 1a BCP1: 0000000000000031 BCP2: FFFFFA800B07B530 BCP3: FFFFF880023A8000 BCP4: FFFFF8A0034041E7 OS Version: 6_1_7601 Service Pack: 1_0 Product: 768_1 Files that help describe the problem: C:\Windows\Minidump\042912-23181-01.dmp C:\Users\Paul\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-35755-0.sysdata.xml Problem signature: Problem Event Name: BlueScreen OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3 Locale ID: 1033 Additional information about the problem: BCCode: 1a BCP1: 0000000000041790 BCP2: FFFFFA800311F8B0 BCP3: 000000000000FFFF BCP4: 0000000000000000 OS Version: 6_1_7601 Service Pack: 1_0 Product: 768_1 Files that help describe the problem: C:\Windows\Minidump\042912-17924-01.dmp C:\Users\Paul\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-32105-0.sysdata.xml I've gotten other error codes, like one with BCCode 24, but I got BSODed again before I could save them. I have tried searching these forums and Google for an answer, but have found little to help, and the diagnostics that were recommended all involved using the Control Panel. Every time I try using the Control Panel, it hangs for a while and I get a Windows Explorer crash, with the following message: Files that help describe the problem: C:\Users\Paul\AppData\Local\Temp\WER429B.tmp.WERInternalMetadata.xml C:\Users\Paul\AppData\Local\Temp\WER63C2.tmp.appcompat.txt C:\Users\Paul\AppData\Local\Temp\WER645F.tmp.mdmp Unfortunately those files would not appear. I have saved the dump files from my BSODs, but I'm not sure how to attach them to this post. Also, I do have the WER... files that would sometimes appear in the Temp folder after a crash. I'm not sure what to do, and thanks so much for your help. Edit: I had the idea to share my dump files etc. via Google Docs. Please post a copy of your dumpfile as a shared file to your Sky Drive with a link here. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itproui/thread/4fc10639-02db-4665-993a-08d865088d65 For advice on how to configure your system to create dump files please read: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/254649 The dumpfile will be created at c:\windows\minidump. You may need to change your settings in Windows to be able to see the file. To show hidden files type Folder Options in the search box above the Start button and select View, Advanced Settings and verify that the box before "Show hidden files and folders" is checked and "Hide protected operating system files" is unchecked. You may need to scroll down to see the second item. You should also make certain that the box before "Hide extensions for known file types" is not checked.Hope this helps, Gerry

When I first tried installing the hotfix, it told me that it couldn't start a service (which I should have copied down but didn't) and that I couldn't install the hotfix in Safe Mode. So I booted Windows normally, which I wasn't able to do before without BSODing, and somehow it booted. I tried installing the hotfix again, and it then gave me a message that the hotfix was not applicable to my computer. However, I have tried putting the computer under strain (running streaming video, running graphics intensive games, etc.) which produced BSODs before, and I have not gotten a BSOD again. I'm not sure why I was having such severe issues yesterday and now it is acting perfectly normal. Perhaps one of my HDs is showing signs of an early death? That seems unlikely though, since they are both only a few months old. I do want to add that I have had a lot of issues with my power recently, including several blackouts in the last couple weeks. However, if that caused a hardware issue, it still doesn't explain to me why everything is working fine now. I also want to say that since I've been able to successfully restart in normal Windows, I have been getting weird error messages for some of my programs. For example, when I tried to start EVE, I got an error saying that it could not find the program at C:\\Program Files (x86)\\CCP\\EVE\\eve.exe, and so I had to run the repair utility to restore the link to the proper C:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE\eve.exe. I have had that same issue with at least one other program, and I am trying others out to see how many programs have that issue. I'll post here if anything changes for the worse. Thanks so much for your help.
