MsMpEng.EXE - 10 second delay accessing a drive letter in Windows Explorer
I have a relatively newly re-formatted XP professional PC (reformatted & re-installed 3 mths ago) running MS Security Essentials Its on a peer to peer network with a drive letter mapped to the shared public folder on a Windows 2008 Server (Login on Access) Whenever I click on the Drive Letter shortcut in Windows Explorer the system freezes for about 10 seconds - task manager shows MsMpEng.EXE hogging 80+% of the processor (often 90+%) I've tried telling Security Essentials to exclude that drive but the problem remains Very little installed on this PC (Office 2007, AutoCAD 2009, thats about it, and no prior anti-virus cos I reformatted & re-installed), Windows Updates are active & upto date
