Move the SAM database on a Windows 7 PC
I have my Windows 7 image setup to have the OS on a separate partition than the users profiles. I use Bitlocker to encrypt the profile partition. For hacking reasons, I want to have the SAM database on this profile partition as well. I have had no success
so far. Can this be done? If so, how?Thank You, SSG Keith Ellsworth

Hi,
The Security Accounts Manager (SAM) is a registry file in Windows 7. The SAM file cannot be moved or copied while Windows is running, since the Windows kernel obtains
and keeps an exclusive filesystem lock on the SAM file. Therefore, it is impossible to move the SAM database to the profile partition and encrypt.
If your computer has TPM chipset, you can encrypt the OS partition.
