Mouse Gestures and Aero
I know 7 is feature complete, but I thought I will just put my suggestion out there. I think Aero Snap and Aero Shakes (etc) are fantastic, and would be even more so with the inclusion of a "back" and "forward" mouse gesture functionality in IE8, explorer or control panel. Also, currently to view the desktop, one has to move the cursor to the bottom right corner (which is a bit far), could we not have it activate when the mouse moves to the screen sides (left, right, up & down) ?

Yeah that would be awesome!

Hi Not a bad idea, but it would likely create some conflicts. For instance, when you move a window to the side of the screen, the 'snap' occurs when the cursor reaches the edge of the screen. Also, when you move the mouse to the top/right corner to press one of the 3 default buttons, you would need to be very careful not to move it too close to the edge of the screen. This would also be problematic if you are the type of user who likes to locate the Taskbar to the side or top of the screen and use Autohide. There are already many ways to show the desktop. WINKEY+DRight click anyplace on the Taskbar and you get a 'Show Destop' on the context menu.Button in the lower right corner. You can also manually create the Show Desktop icon and place it anywhere you wish. 1. Open Notepad and Copy / Paste the text between the 2 lines in Notepad. (Don't copy the lines) -------------------------------------- [Shell]Command=2IconFile=shell32.dll,34[Taskbar]Command=ToggleDesktop -------------------------------------- 2. Save the file as Show Desktop.scf to the Desktop. You can then move or copy the resulting Show Desktop icon to the location of your choice. Ronnie Vernon MVP

thanks for your reply, but moving a window (aerosnap) and moving the mouse cursor are two completely different events. I can see a problem though when using autohide.Anyway, the suggestion is what I would like to see as user. From an accessibility point of view, when I'm using a mouse to navigate, I only want to use the mouse and likewise for a keyboard or voice command. Hence, my other suggestion re: back and forward mouse gestures. (i'm lazy)Again, thanks for the reply.

I believe you haven't understood to that question completely. There are many ways how to show desktop but this topic has been about MouseGestures as Opera or Firefox use them. Why can't Microsoft implement this function into the system the same way - and maybe let users modify those Gestures.. I am afraid that Shake is real nonsence just because this movement by mouse is terribly uncomfortable - did somebody try to think during designing of this? I guess MouseGestures is really great idea but Microsoft probably needs another 5 - 7 years to realize that Shake with mouse is really not the right way. Daniel
