Motorola SM56 Data Fax Modem Device Software Installation Windows Keeps Popping Up...Please Help!?
I have a problem with the motorola sm56 data fax modem device software installation popup on Vista Home Premium x64 if anyone can help. Here are the details: Hewlett-Packard HP Pavilion dv6700 Notebook PC Intel (R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T9300 @ 2.50GHz 2.50GHz Memory: 4.00 GB System Type: 64-bit Operating System Windows Vista Home Premium Edition SP1 Every time I logon, I get a pop-up window for the installation of the Modem driver. (Motorola SM56 Data Fax Modem) The pop-up windows title is Device Software Installation. It says Windows will now finish installing software from the manufacturer of this device: Motorola SM56 Data Fax Modem. You have the option to Finish installing or Ask me again later. No matter what you choose, it asks you again later. It's quite annoying. If anyone knows why this is happening or the fix, please post. I should not have to disable it. When I go into Device Manager, it's already installed in there though. I'm confused; I miss XP. If you can help, i'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Hi, The driver software is not installed properly. I suggest that you uninstall the existed software and then reinstall the latest version with high privilege. Uninstall =================== 1. Click Start, click Run, type in "devmgmt.msc" (without quotation marks) and press Enter. 2. In Device Manager, double click to expand the branch of the fax modem. 3. Right click the entry of your fax modem and click Uninstall to uninstall the driver. 4. Click Start, in the Start Search box type "appwiz.cpl" and press Enter. 5. Find and remove all the card reader related entries. 6. Download the latest driver from the following website. http://www.motorola.com/content.jsp?globalObjectId=8159-11270 7. Disable your anti-virus and firewall. 8. Right-click on the installation file and choose "Run as administrator" If the issue still occurs, the Motorola driver may have problems. I suggest that you contact Motorola, and confirm if this driver has such known issue. Hope it helps.
