Motherboard Ethernet driver didn't load on the Win7 install
The Windows 7 install was a failure on my system. I use a ASUS P5L-VM-1394 motherboard and it didn't load a driver for the network adapter. It is an Atheros L1 Gigabit Ethernet 10/100/1000Base-T adapter on the motherboard. The driver install disk for the mother board doesn't work on this OS either. I don't know about the sound drivers, didn't even get to them. I'm using a separate hard drive for this testing.

It appears that the drivers for your devices aren't included in this version of the Win7 beta.I'd advise against using the CD or the Asus website (as I've had problems with this).Rather, I'd visit the website of the manufacturer of the hardware device and get the latest drivers from there.- John

Thank you, I'll see what they have. I didn't have that problem with Vista but I didn't like it and subsequently removed it and went back to XP. I also didn't like Vista asking me every time if I really wanted to run a certain executable. Is there a way to turn that off? I see Win 7 has the same thing.

For my Asus mb: P5SD1-FM2 Window 7-setup didn't had the driver for the on board ethernet chip (Sis 191). I installed the Windows XP-driver I had on the CD from Fujitsu Siemens. Ather a reboot Windows Update installed the proper Windows 7 driver for this device. I still have problems with the onboard audio chip AC'97 (Realtek). The Windows 7-driver makes the sound output on the red outlet. Now I cant't connect a microphone!

I've had better experiences with the ASUS site on the other hand, so I'd recommend downloading the latest Vista 32-bits/64-bits drivers for your motherboard's network adapter and installing them under Vista compatibility mode and as an administrator. Right mouse click on the executable -> Properties -> Compatibility (tab) -> Check both 'Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows Vista' and 'Run this program as an administrator'.

Same for me with BETA 32bit using new ASUS P5QL-CM Intel G43 mainboard with onboard RealtekRTL8111B/C GB LAN PCIe device.Installation of newsystem without flaws, but nonetworkin the finished installation. By the way, I tried to do it the old way, andused regedit tosee, if theadapter was found and is listed in the PCI devices found in HKEY_LOCAL_MACINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Enum/PCI - there aresomekeys VEN_...missing any subentries.Hm,I evenfound no solution to delete this keys - a workaround that worked in < VISTA :(So posting this, I recognized a new BIOS version by ASUS, and it was thier fault - the new BIOS fixed the following:Fix a bug that the lan will disappear in system when disable JMB368 Controller in setup. So I enabled this JMB device again, and e voila, my NIC is back ;)

I had exactly the same problem with myAtheros L1 Gigabit Ethernetadapter. I downloaded the latest Vista 32 driver from the Asus website and it fixed it. I saw the BIOS update also but didn't apply that.
