More Vista networking woes :-/
Hi people, I give up, i'm stumped. My (admin) PC is running Vista64 Business SP1. The Server is SBS2003 R2. Linked via 1GB switch. CAT6 patch throughout. I've tried both GB NICs on the Vista PC, even tried load balancing (Teaming) and it's still awful. It takes 10mins to unpack a 15MB RAR archive on a networked drive. Often the network disappears completely on the Vista machine so i can only see myself. Win Explorer hangs when i browse the server etc. etc. At the same time though i can still browse the iNet with no problem (The SBS Server is gateway/Router). I have re-installed Vista several times and tried different drivers and it makes no difference as far as i can tell. The rest of the clients (95, 98, Me, XP etc.) have no such problems. Some are cabled, some WiFi. Prozac is in short supply!

Hi, I suggest performing the following steps to troubleshoot the issue; 1. If SP2 is installed on the SBS2003 machine, please download the update KB948496 from the following link and install on the SBS2003 machine:http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=062E954C-FDEC-45AF-A09C-5A05B8F010A5&displaylang=en 2. If the issue persists, please temporarily disable the TCP autotuning feature on Windows Vista machine to check the result:a. Click Start, and type cmd in the Start Search box.b. Right-click the cmd icon, and select Run as Administrator.c. In the Command Prompt, type the following command:netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabledd. After that, please check the result.Note: Please re-enable Auto Tuning by typing the following command if the above steps cannot fix the issue:netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=normal 3. If the issue persists, please boot the Windows Vista machine into Safe Mode with Networking and check the result. Hope it helps.
