Thank you for RESMON. I am always amazed at the utilities in Windows, that I am ignorant about! This is a very pleasant surprise. I have watched the video in your link, opened RESMON and had a look. I need a little more help because I have the same problem described in the video - wireless activity when not connected to the internet (1 to 1.5MB per hour). I am not clear about how to detect the cause and rectify it. Can you help? Here is a screen shot showing activity when not connected to the internet, except Skype. Thank you, Regards melita

Hello, My OS is Windows 7 Home Premium. Is there a facility in Windows, or any software from microsoft and other producers that I can use, to monitor my internet usage in real time. I have only one home computer. What I would like to see is the upload and download rate and total usage, in real time - a usage monitor. Thank youmelita

Hi, Based my test, all applications Receive cost will reduce to zero gradually after unplug the cable. As some application will try to connect to the server automatically, their Send cost may not be able to reduce to zero. Meanwhile, some system process still have Send or Receive data, such as System and svchost.exe. I would like to recommend waiting a moment for a test.Kim Zhou TechNet Community Support

Hi, I mean, after un-plug the cable, please waiting a moment. The applications Receive cost should reduce gradually. In my test, they reduced to zero cost about 10 minutes.Kim Zhou TechNet Community Support

Could you please explain your last sentence above? "I would like to recommend waiting a moment for a test". I am quite lost here about this "test" you mention. Is it a test that I can perform? Thank youmelita

Hi, The send and receive packets in resource monitor doesn't represent the current network flow. It is the avarage value of the recent several minutes. It is the reason that you need to wait some time to see it becomes 0. Best Regards Scott Xie

I did this test and found it just the way you described. RESMON shows Network Activity even after unplugging my wireless modem or after disconnecting from the computer wireless console. But the BitMeter (see Luigi Bruno's reply above), shows zero activity (upload and download both zero as soon as the connection is cut). So my assumption is that this activity, shown on RESMON, does not count on my internet usage. The way I see it, when all power is cut off to the wireless modem, nothing can go to my internet usage bill (my sending or receiving cost). Please confirm whether I am correct. If I am correct in my assumption, could you explain the Network Activity shown in RESMON, after unplugging? Thank you, Best regards. melita
