Monitor not responding from sleep mode
Have windows XP on my emachine desktop. have vga older monitor and lately when the monitor kicks into sleep mode(energy saver?), it will not wake up when someone uses keyboard or mouse. thought the monitor was going out so hooked up another vga monitor(dell) and same thing happens. So i am thinking someone may have changed some settings somewhere. monitor only wakes up when rebooting pc. then when it next goes to sleep, it wont come back unless restarted. any ideas on what may have happened to settings. multi-user pc-thats why i think settings were changed either on monitor menu or display in system settings. Hi BILL,· Did you make any software or hardware changes on your machine prior to this issue?· What is the make & model of your computer?Let’s follow these methods & check if it helps.Method 1You may press the ‘SLEEP’ keyboard shortcut & check if the issue persists.Method 2You may check in power management if the option ‘Allow this device to wake the computer’ is enabled.a.Click Start > Run, type Control keyboard, and then click OK.b.Open the Keyboard control panel item. Click the Hardware tab, and then click Properties.c.Click the Change Settings button. Note: This step requires Administrator access d.Click the Power Management tab, and then verify that the option ‘Allow this device to wake the computer’ is enabled. Click OK, and then click OK again.Refer: Troubleshoot problems waking computer from sleep modeHope the information helps.
