Monitor keeps switching from 32-bit color to 8-bit and switching from Western European Windows coding to Unicode UTF-8.
After updating Windows XP Service Pack, and several drivers on my Dell 4700C, my monitor keeps switching from 32-bit color to 8. My Samsung SyncMaster 920wm monitor is set for resolution of 1400x900, which is what the manufacturer recommends. I notice that my screen goes completely black when switching from one window to another; changes from 32-bit to 8-bit color depth; and the page encoding in internet keeps switching to Unicode UTF-8 instead of Western European Windows, and it totally screws up the images on my screen. Help!!!

Hi CathyKaster, · Did you download the drivers from the Dell website?· What version of Internet Explorer do you use? You may want to try the following and check if it helps. Method 1: If you have installed the drivers through Windows Update, check to see if there are any graphics\video driver updates available on manufacturer website. Install the same if available. Method 2: For Internet explorer, refer to the below mentioned article and check if it helps.Pictures are not displayed on Web sites in Internet Explorer Method 3: Try optimizing Internet Explorer to check for the problem Regards,Syed N – Microsoft Support--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Visit our Microsoft Answers Feedback Forum and let us know what you think.
