The following document would seem to suggest that some customisation is possible... http://download.microsoft.com/download/7/E/7/7E7662CF-CBEA-470B-A97E-CE7CE0D98DC2/MB_CustGuide.docx I can also use netsh to determine the conection type eg GPRS / UMTS etc etc, amongst other things Most 3G/Mobile broadband manufacturers are signing up to the Windows Mobile Broadband API model for their new drivers & so I would expect this functionality to be exposed in native Windows 7 - allbeit via an xml configuration script for the connection profile. Are there any Win 7 Mobile Broadband experts out there that could add anything more? Really kken for my large scale deployment to use native Windows 7 mobile broadband rather than a whole raft of mobile providers diallers! CheersDouks

Hi Please does anyone know the command to force a Windows 7 Mobile Broadband connection to prefer 3G over GPRS if 3G available. I know many of the bespoke dialer programs have this option, but wondered if the same could be achieved with native windows 7 using maybe netsh. ThanksDouks

Thanks both for your contributions. Whilst I respect your input, I'm not sure how modem manufacturers are supposed to sign up to an api that doesn't expose all the functionality they might require. From a corporate prospective, the introduction of Windows 7 mobile broadband nativeley within the Windows 7 interface & with GPO control is very very exiting. It seems this is too bleeding edge for this forum at this time. I guess we'll have to wait for the card manufacturers to lobby MS for all the api functionaity. Thanks again anyway, but please don't stray from the MS party line. All enterprise customers would all like to be able to control (via GPO) how their mobile broadband connections function, and given the fact that the manufacturers can see this too, it is not heplful to suggest 3rd party programs - EVER. CheersDouks

Hi, Thanks for posting in Microsoft TechNet Forum. As far as I know, Windows 7 cannot tell the difference between 3G and GPRS. This should be achieved with extra programs.
