Missing network icon.....
I havea dell D820 running Vista Ultimate. I installed Adobe Master Collection and my networking icon, and battery icon disappeared. The laptop still connects to my wireless network, but now it seems to drop the connection for no reason and won't connect back for a minute or 2 then suddenly reconnects even though I have a strong signel. Anybody know how to find my lost icons???

I don't know if you'll see this reply (posted many months later), but I'm experiencing the same sort of issues with my HP laptop running Vista Home Premium. First my battery meter disappeared. When I used the right-click, properties, etc. the option was greyed-out so I couldn't do anything. I required that I turn off the computer, remove the battery, reinstall the battery and start it back up. Now my network icon is AWOL and the check box for it is greyed out. The only thing I can think of is that some update I recently installed from Microsoft is screwing with the icons in the system tray/notification area. I've read a number of postings at various web sites about this very sort of problem with Vista and I'm certain it's Vista because the problems are being reported across all the laptop manufacturers.

Having same 'greyed-out' network icon with Vista home premium on a dell laptop. Just happened after one year of it being there!
