However, since you are the MVP, maybe you could share some insight as to why this intricate component, to which I believe is extremely helpful in maintaining a higher level of performance, specifically the startup time for the O/S, has been removed? Bill, Read the question again carefully, then read the first response. They have removed this component that I have inquired about, .ie software explorer, within Windows Defender., not windows Defender itself. But thank you for the response anyway. Reqards....... :)

I would think that "software explorer" or another tool of this kind will be integrated into the "morro" av-protection that is supposed to be released at the same time as Win7.
