Miniports - Cannot find Mac Bridge Miniport option

Miniports - Cannot find Mac Bridge Miniport option

Hi

I have been having some problems trying to connect to a VPN

I get this message:

Error 720 a connection to the remote computer could not be established. You might need to change the network settings for this connection

I have been following this guide: http://www.oyam.ca/blog/2011/11/windows-miniports/

However, I come stuck at the part where it says - from the "network adapter" list choose MAC bridge miniport.

I cannot see this as an option for the process.

Secondly, I have t read on in the guide to the second portion about reinstalling the miniports.

My problem is that I am following this guide: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/182.how-to-obtain-the-current-version-of-device-console-utility-devcon-exe.aspx

I can download and extract the ISO to my C: root, but am wondering how to "perform the administrative installation"

Would the command be: "%SystemRoot%\System32\msiexec.exe" /a "C:\WDK\setuptools_x64fre.msi" targetdir="%temp%"

Sorry if this is a very silly question, only just getting to grips with all of this.

many thanks for any help

Hi markyp1991,

The main issue is that we come across a 720 error code when we try to connect to a VPN, right?

Here is a similar symptom for reference(We can take the suggestions has been marker as answer to have a check):
PPTP VPN on Windows 7 - error 720
https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/eb37b71e-a021-47ee-896e-186cef55bf11/pptp-vpn-on-windows-7-error-720?forum=w7itpronetworking

If the issue persists, we can try the following steps to have a troubleshoot.
1.Reinstall the network adapter driver from the device manager.
2.Run the following tool to reset the TCP/IP stack
How to reset TCP/IP by using the NetShell utility
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/299357

For your question,
"However, I come stuck at the part where it says - from the "network adapter" list choose MAC bridge miniport."
According to my understanding, it is just an example, it could be any name.

" but am wondering how to "perform the administrative installation""
According to my understanding, we can right click the cmd.exe and choose "Run as administrator" then run the command line.

Best regards
