Migreting Lync 2010 to Skype for Business

Hi all, I am planning to migrate Lync 2010 to S4B, without to migrate to lync2013. My questions about the migration are:

1. Edge Server, Can I use the current Edge Server installed for L2010 or I have to install a new one?

2. I have a SQL Cluster for the BE in Lync 2010 (SQL SERVER 2008 R2 SP1), is it posible to crate a new SQL instance into the SQL Cluster to be use by the S4B, instead of install a new BE server?

B.Regards,

Hi

1. You can use your current Edge server during the migration would be advisable however to create a new edge server on S4B once the migration is complete.

2. Unfortunately this is not possible, ran into the same problem with my install.  You will need a SQL server, you cannot host the Lync Databases on a server already hosting previous lync databases even with a new instance -
