Hityler_qc,If you have issues with turning the Microsoft Security Essentials On then follow the steps mentioned. Step 1:Make sure the “Microsoft Security Essentials” service is set to automatic and is started1. In Windows XP, clickStart, click Run, type services.msc, and then pressEnter. 2. Search forMicrosoft Antimalware Service. Right click it and select Properties or double-click it to open the service. 3. Check to make sure that the "Startup Type" is set to "Automatic".4. Click theStart button to start the service. If the Start button is not available, click theStop button, and then click the Start button to restart the service.5. Make sure you note any errors that may appear during this process and include the error information.Step 2: Remove any existing Internet security programs1. In Windows XP, clickStart, click Run, type appwiz.cpl, and then pressEnter. 2. In the list of installed programs, uninstall any third-party Internet security programs.*3. Restart your computer, and then try to install Microsoft Security Essentials again.Note:Some Internet security applications do not uninstall completely. You may need to download and run a cleanup utility for your previous security application in order for it to be completely removed. <If this post helps to resolve your issue, please click the "Propose as Answer" If you find it helpful , mark it as helpful by clicking on "Vote as Helpful" button at the top of this message.
