Microsoft applications hang on open - Windows 7 only
All Windows 7 machines on the network are having an issue where Microsoft applications hang and give 'not responding' when opening. It will last a minute or so then the file will eventually open. It has been confirmed to happen with Word, Excel, and Expressions. IE8 will also hang on open and when creating a new tab. Outlook opens fine. PDF's, images, and other non-microsoft files open fine. The Server is running Windows 2008 and has Eset Nod32 virus scan(I mention this because a lot of people have blamed this issue on virus scanners). The issue started about a week after we moved to roaming profiles and group policy mapped drives. Also, there's a delay when opening mapped drives on the Windows 7 machines. Other versions of Windows are not having any issues and everything navigates and opens very fast. Has anyone run into this problem or have any suggestions on how we fix the issue?

It isn't related to antivirus software on my PC. It is caused by having any network folder expanded in the File Open dialog. Soem applications refuse to open any file unless I disconnect from the network. So much for the "improved" Windows 7. This never happened on XP or Vista.
