Microsoft Update is offering Office 2007 SP1 and later hotfixes when Office 2007 SP2 is installed on Windows 7
Hi,Is anyone from Micrsoft able to comment on this, please? We are running Windows 7 Enterprise build 7600 32-bit. We have Office 2007 Service Pack 2 installed. Microsoft Update is offering:Office 2003 Server Pack 3 (SP3)2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 1 (SP1)Security Update for Microsoft Office 2007 (KB951550)Security Update for Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 (KB972363)Security Update for Microsoft Office Project 2007 (KB949046)Security Update for Microsoft Office Visio 2007 (KB957831)Security Update for the 2007 Microsoft Office System (KB951944)Security Update for the 2007 Microsoft Office System (KB954326)Security Update for the 2007 Microsoft Office System (KB972581)Security Update for the 2007 Microsoft Office System (KB974234)Security Update for Microsoft Office 2007 (KB951550)After checking out the updates, most of them are pre-Office 2007 SP2 from 2008. One or two might be relevant to SP2.Why are we constantly being offered these updates (especially SP1) when Office 2007 SP2 is installed? Thanks,RobCheers,Rob

Hi, Does any error occur when trying to install these updates? I suggest performing the following steps first: 1. Click the "Start" Button, click "All programs", and click "Accessories". 2. Right-click "Command Prompt", and click "Run as administrator".3. type net stop WuAuServ and press Enter. 4. Click the "Start" Button, type in %windir% and press Enter.5. In the opened folder, look for the folder named "SoftwareDistribution".6. Right-click on the folder, select "Rename" and type "SDold" (without the quotes) to rename this folder.7. Still in "Administrator: Command Prompt" window, type the command "net start WuAuServ" (without the quotes) in the opened window to restart the Windows Updates service. You can also try repairing Office 2007. In addition, I suggest using the "Office" Community which would be the more relevant forums for your question. http://www.microsoft.com/office/community/en-us/default.mspx?dg=microsoft.public.officeupdate&lang=en&cr=USVivian Xing - MSFT

Hi Rob, other MS Applications (Visual Studio 2008, Expression Web) also use parts of Office 2007. Do you have such programs installed? If yes, install the updates and you're fine. André"A programmer is just a tool which converts caffeine into code" CLIP- Stellvertreter http://www.winvistaside.de/

Thanks, Andre, you were correct, it is Visual Studio 2008 that is causing this strangeness :)
