Microsoft Student discounts
So I am attending a college that IS on microsofts verification list of approved schools were students can receive discounts through microsoft. The problems are: they do not give students email address, but will most likely start to this coming spring; the student ID's look like something that can be EASILY photoshoped (i would accept it as a form of verification at least); they dont give out report cards, and the unofficial transcripts (whether you get it online or from the administration offices) look like mere text documents as well as the paper they give you when you register for class'; and their is no government issued buss pass for my school (we just show the buss driver our student ID for the discount). Is their any way i can become verified without having to spend more money to do so? (i cannot afford an extra $20 - $40 to become verified, yet i need 7 pro, office, and a couple other programs for school)

Ask your administrator that handles the Microsoft licensing for a 'Verification code'. Once you add the desired software to your shopping cart online, it will ask you how you want to verify your student status and you can enter the code there. If you found this post helpful, please give it a "Helpful" vote. The Microsoft student store is for college only students www.schoolanduniversity.com (I have contacted them before to know that). JourneyEd and Academic Superstore give discounts to mostly all students instead of just college with a .edu email address. As was already mentioned DreamSpark will give you free software. I've used the server edition of Windows instead of the desktop edition before and it was quite good. I really don't know why MS only gives the great discounts to college students, but not high school where the students are even poorer.
