I did a restore from a clean Windows 8.1 backup. My PC was restored with Windows and updates and not much else. I had installed the Microsoft Solitaire collection and one or two other games from the store with my previous install.
So now, I go to get Solitaire from the store; it shows I own them, but when I install them, the message box tells me "my purchase can't be completed" and I see the cause is error 0x80070057.
So, this morning I go into event viewer because I like to take a peek at what's going on with a fresh install and I see the following:
"Crawl could not be completed on content source<winrt://S-1-5-21-651528630-1085324033-1791406189-1001}/>. Context: Application, System Index Catalog. Details:The parameter is incorrect. (HRESULT : 0x80070057) (0x80070057)"
This is the same error I get when I attempt to install games I've previously installed. I can install other games without an issue.
I have tried the following fixes, some recommended by Technet. I have reset store cache using the wsreset.exe with Command Prompt(admin); I have created a new Software Distribution folder and renamed the old one.
Ou ton the web, some folks have had success in reloading their apps by installing the VLC player and some other have had success by disabling App settings both the list & purchase settings. None of these have worked for me.
It would seem my PC has told me the source of the error, but I need help fixing it. Please take a look and advise. Thanks.
