Microsoft Security Essentials error 0x800106ba.
Original Title: 0x800106baI am running an older IBM PC with Windows XP with Service pack 3. I have used Microsoft Security Essentials for some time now without problems. Using this program for the last couple of months has been unsatisfactory as I keep getting an error code '0x800106ba' and a message stating the scan could not be completed because of a problem with something named 'Animalware Service Executable'. Is there a solution to this annoyance?...Thank you.

Hi mgcanada, · Do you have any other antivirus installed on the computer? Verify that you have removed all other antimalware products that were ever installed on your PC, including free/trial products that were installed when the PC was purchased. Refer to this thread for the removal tools. Check to see if the problem persists. Note: Ensure to enable\install your anti-virus back on the computer after you finish these steps. It is not recommended to disable these settings or uninstall this software on the computer. This is just to troubleshoot the issue. If this does not help then you may post your query at the Microsoft Security Essentials Forums here.
