Microsoft Private Folder 1.0 problem
i just installed Private folder. It asked me to restart to finish installation. i'm runningXP sp2. Once i restarted, it pops up screen stating that windows shut down improperly and to choose method to start up (safe mode, safe mode with command prompt, using last known config, etc...). all methods just loop the startup process. is there a fix i can burn on cd or put on floppy to get windows to start up without having to recover whole system and losing my data? Please advise

You state that you are running XP SP2. I'm afraid this forumis dedicated to Windows Vista. I suggest you try search the Windows XP forums to see whether other people have encountered this problem. Here is a link: http://support.microsoft.com/winxp. My guess is that either the Files, Folders or Disks or the Setup forums might be the best place to look. Good luck, and I apologize that we couldn't help you here.

Hey there all. This was the top rated forum in my "My Private Folder" search, so i will post a blog on this here, for anybody else to know the isse i had. A lot of, no, a very big number of my files, no, all my business documentation created and working files gathered and worked on for more than a year were placed in the "My Private Folder v1.0". I was told that it has a great encryption and file protection mechanism, so noone will be able to access my files. Well great! Why not!...1. And here is me installing that software on my machine and placing all my files under that folder. Initially, that seemed great, only the sizes of my files were increased, but it was ok for me - the encryption caused that.2. Several days later i found out that some of my image-files (JPG, etc) i had in the private folder got damaged, so i was not able to preview them.3. After a while, almost all, i repeat - almost ALL files placed in "My private folder" stop working. That was a catastrophe for me. All work was lost. So i decided to copy them out from that folder. The copied files were corrupted as well. The software uninstallation did not help me. ******So i lost all my data stored in that "Private Folder" and now nobody, even me, will never be able to access them. Oh, really, what a beautiful software (I am very ironic). (((Now i am brushing my correspondence for the past year to find all files i lost one by one.********I realize this is Vista-oriented forum, but please place this post somewhere so any confident party will be able to solve this issue for future versions (if will be). And, i strongly recommend not to keep anything in the "My Private Folder v1.0"******Best!

Can sombody help? After installing Private folder 1.0 everything worked fine until my harddisk chrashed. I sent my disk to recovery, an almost all my data was recovered. But not files in my private folder. I can see all files in the folder, but they are decrypted. And all files are duplicated with a $e_ extension. Isthere some wayto recover my files in private folder?

Yes, with MPF installed, right-click on MPF in the toolbar and select Import Encrypted Files from the Options menu there. Then browse to the directory with the problem.
