Microsoft Outlook 2007 becomes unresponsive when downloading emails
Hey guys and gals,My Microsoft Outlook 2007 becomes unresponsive when new emails are being downloaded, and when I try to open those new emails. for you knowledge, I am routing them from my Georgia Tech email server, an IMAP, into Microsoft Outlook 2007. All of those settings are correct. So whenever I open Outlook and new emails are downloaded, Outlook freezes, goes unresponsive, and I must close it out, send the error report, and reopen. When I reopen, I am able to view those emails with no problem. It might help you to know that the only thing my defragmenter will not defrag is my Outlook .pst file. I've tried archiving and splitting it into different pst's, but to no avail.Do you folks have any more suggestions? None of the other Electrical Engineers I speak with have anything else to give me...Thanks!1 person needs an answerI do too

Might have some corruption in the PST file. See if this helps: http://www.officeforlawyers.com/outlook/tsol.htm#SCANPST -B- http://www.officeforlawyers.com | http://www.onenote-tips.com Author: The Lawyer's Guide to Microsoft Outlook

Thanks for your help, Mr. Ben.Unfortunately, I've done this already, using the scanpst.exe file and repairing all my folders. It still hangs up whenever a new email is downloaded and becomes unresponsive. I've also reinstalled Outlook 2007 to try and remedy the problem, but with no luck.

Did SCANPST find any errors? If so did you run it AGAIN until it came back clean?-B- http://www.officeforlawyers.com | http://www.onenote-tips.com Author: The Lawyer's Guide to Microsoft Outlook

I sure did - on every .pst file I had, regardless if I was currently using that .pst or not.

The new AVG 2011 Internet Security.I think that may be something to do with it - Outlook started acted funny right around the time I downloaded AVG 2011, but I'm not sure if it could affect performance like it has.Do you recommend I remove my new anti-virus software and try it with the AVG 2010 Free edition that I had?

Try disabling AVG, temporarily, just as a test. See if that changes anything. If so...we know who the culprit is and we can deal with that. -B- http://www.officeforlawyers.com | http://www.onenote-tips.com Author: The Lawyer's Guide to Microsoft Outlook

No sir, AVG is definitely not the culprit. I also reinstalled my old AVG Free anti-virus, and it didn't help anything.I also cleared out all the unnecessary add-ins, but this did nothing either.
