Microsoft Management Console?
1) Is it possible to load upon application startup a default configuration? Or do I always have to do File -> Open and load an MSC file?
2) Also, some programs, but not all, open the User Account Control dialog when I start them. Is is possible to tell Windows, on an application by application basis to be told not to prompt the user with the User Account Control dialog?

You may want to check out the tutorial on this website for custom UAC. I know its written for Vista, but it should be compatible with Windows 7 at first glance. http://www.vista4beginners.com/Disable-UAC-for-certain-applications I'm not 100% sure what
you want to do with your first problem, could you clarify?

Thank you for your reply. With respect to #2, the tutorial looks good. Here's an updated link to the Microsoft compatibility tool:

I will try this later today and post back here.
As to question #1, when I start MMC (Microsoft Management Console) the only item listed in the left pane is the "Console Root". I then go File -> Open and load an MSC file which loads the various snapins that I'm interested in using. My question is, can't
MMC be configured so that my default snapins get loaded automatically?
I don't see a way to configure this? Maybe MMC loads a default MSC file that I don't have?
ThanksKarl Thompson

Open MMC and configure it as you want. Drop the "File" menu and select
"Save as." Use the default name (console1.msc) or pick your own. Save it
to the default location and it will show up in your Administrative Tools
menu. When you open that in the future, you will get your preconfigured
MMC console.

You can also open the MSC directly without the MMC. For example, to open Group Policy Editor, type gpedit.msc in the Start Search box and Press enter. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
