Microsoft .NET framework 4 ruined my connection
Hello. Several days ago my connection was working perfectly. I went to windows update as i usually do and checked for updates and installed the Microsoft .NET Framework 4 for Windows XP (i was previously using the 3.5) and the Client Profile (both seperate files). After installing and rebooting, i noticed my connection would randomly time out and die - something that never happened before. I checked my phone line, i checked my modem and tried various different configurations and set ups to determine what the problem was. Using a laptop on the same connection i realized that when my connection died on my pc it would not die on the laptop, regardless of whether it was via wireless or cable. So from that i believe that the problem must have originated from the .NET framework 4 update i had recently installed. So i tried uninstalling it but the problem still persists. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling each previous version from .NET 1.0 back to 3.5 but nothing works. Im desperate and im looking for help. Id really appreciate any ideas, thanks!1 person needs an answerI do too

Hi,Try these steps:Step 1:First, check the status of the connection under Network Connections. You may refer this link for help:http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/maintain/troubleshoot.mspxStep 2:Refer this article for troubleshooting steps to diagnose and resolve Internet Connectivity issues. How to troubleshoot possible causes of Internet connection problems in Windows XP:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314095If nothing helps, then perform system restore to restore the computer to an earlier point in time before the problem started.Step 3:Restore your computer to an earlier point in time.Refer:How to restore Windows XP to a previous state:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306084Regards,Afzal Taher-Microsoft Support.Visit ourMicrosoft Answers Feedback Forum and let us know what you think.

Hello Afzal, thanks for your help. Step 1 doesnt help me because my connection is in good status.Step 2 doesnt help me because none of the issues in the list apply to me.Step 3 is an option i want to avoid right now. System Restore or reinstalling windows or formating is a last option for me and i want to try other methods before resorting to that. So far i have tried uninstalling NET 4 as well as all previous NET versions and reinstalling each up to 3.5 sp 1 but sadly that did not seem to fix the connectivity problem. I even used the cleanup tool here http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/pages/8904493.aspx but it didnt help.
