Metro apps don't work with ethernet, but do work with wireless adapter

My metro apps don't/won't work with Ethernet cable, but the desktop IE does. The metro apps show being offline when using a wired connection. I have to unplug my Ethernet cable and plug in my wireless adapter while rebooting the computer. This is a real pain! Have read every forum post I could find on "metro apps not working" and don't see a work-around for my issue.

It's like the metro apps only see wireless adapter, not the wired connection. I get the no-wireless symbol on the apps only.

I'm using a desktop computer, so using a wireless adapter is silly when I have a Cat-5 cable laying right there.

I've tried refreshing Windows 8

I uninstall Norton 360 and am currently using Windows Defender. ($70 bucks down the drain I guess)

My LAN settings are auto connect

Not using a Internet Proxy

I've tried using local login

I've tried using both Ethernet and wireless together and it does work...... still silly to use both.

After months of trying to fix this.....I'm ready to go back to another OS and call Windows 8 a failure! If you do a bing search on this issue you get 2,590,000 results. It's time to fix this!
