Apparently today Microsoft started requiring everyone to enter a display name before signing inon Messenger. Every time Messenger starts, a pop-up appears that says"Please provide a display name so you can sign in". This is something new for increased security to prevent users e-mail addresses from displaying. The problem is, in the program preferences, there is a place to provide a display name and save it in the profile, so it should not ask for it before signing in EVERY time. I am using Windows Messenger 5.1 but this is happening toall Messenger users.7 people need an answerI do too

I hope they fix it soon or I will just switch to Yahoo. It's quite aggravating. Mine actually started doing it Wednesday.
