Meet URL failing for 1 of 2 directors

- 2 Director servers, currently running CU5v2 with mobility web service addon.

- Problem seems to be for internal clients only

- From Director 1, the meet URL always fails with the following error:

Machine:XXXXXXXXXXBrowserId:Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 6.2; WOW64; Trident/6.0; .NET4.0E; .NET4.0C)Join attempted at:4/10/2012 4:01:44 PMError:Invalid Conference organizer or Conference ID

- When I point the meet A record at Director 2, it works fine.

- I have tried rebooting Director 1 and re-running the deployment wizard, no change

- I uninstalled all Lync components and rebuilt the Lync Director from scratch, no change

- I have confirmed the meet site does exist in IIS. For some reason it does not like the conference ID on this server?

Hi,

PLeae remove the Director server form the Director Pool in the Topology Builder. Then reinstall the Director server OS. Add it to topology, install the Director components and update again.

Also try completely removing .NET Framework and IIS and reinstalling these components. Then reinstall Lync on the Director and see if that fixes it.

Hi Justin

I have a job logged with MS, and we have tried that. We may end up going with Sean's suggestion next...

Well I have had some progress yet still not resolved.

- If I request and assign a new certificate from our enterprise CA on the problem director server , this problem goes away. But of course we need a public trusted cert for other reasons, so this just illustrates the problem, doesn't really resolve it.

- I have gone so far as to re-request our public certificate and check all the SAN's - they all look good

- Lync does not complain when importing the public trusted certificate

- There are no cert related errors in the event log

- For meet invitations, the same public certificate works on the other director plus the other front end servers. Possibly because the other director is the first IP when doing a lookup, I'm not sure

Investigation continues...

Many thanks to MS and Digicert who easily identified the root cause.

The certificate chain was not correctly installed on this server. They have an excellent utility that can diagnose this at https://www.digicert.com/util/

Odd that Lync import log, Lync event logs, as well as MMC certificate details all the way up the chain did not have any errors. It is also very unusual that the director services even start with a problem certificate.

I think my problem was similar to this:

Same issue here.  We have a director pool with 6 servers.  5 out of the 6 this morning started throwing the same error mentioned above (invalid conf etc..).

We rebooted all 5, and 2 of them started working.

There are three now that are not working.  All proper services are running, they have been rebooted, connectivity is great.

Ran out of things to check.
