McAfee problem: how to reset Windows programs/security permission.
I had McAfee Total protection 2010 running fine. But, after the latest Windows automatic update, McAfee won't scan. I removed and tried to reinstall McAfee but can't install it anymore. McAfee support person says I need to contact Microsoft to reset Windows programs permission or Windows security permission. He explained it's Microsoft setting that is keeping McAfee from installing. I ran Microsoft Fix It tool but it didn't help. I am out of resources now. Any help? How can I change Windows programs or security permission to let McAfee install?1 person needs an answerI do too

I already ran the McAfee cleanup tool numerous times and tried to reinstall but no success. Another reason that it seems to be a Microsoft problem is that I have two computers and McAfee is running fine on the computer that I haven't done Windows update (I can't recall the name exactly now but the lastes windows update was something to do with malicious ware removal tool). Does anyone know how to reset Windows programs permission or Windows security permission to let McAfee install? I don't think it's worth $49 to pay for support. If I don't find any solution, I will just get another anti-virus software. However, this is soooooooooo frustrating!!!

I have a similar problem. I had to do a recovery and lost my McAfee vp. After 9 contacts with McAfee I insisted that I be in contact with a higher level tech. That tech went through my computer from end to end and came to the conclusion that it IS a microsoft problem. I won't pay microsoft $50 either!I believe that because of updates to windows XP sp3, and Internet Explorer 8, along with McAfee updates They are no longer compatible. It will probably take some amount of interface between the 3 to resolve the problem.I have checked the net and found that this is a problem with a lot of users....They cannot reinstall McAfee after a recovery and update of everything. This is just FYI, sorry it didn't solve the problem.
