I have a Maxtor network shared storage drive that I use for pictures and other media.In vista the device was always found but couldn't be mapped.In windows 7 the device will not show up at all.I can directly map the drive using \\<devname> and this gets over the problem but I would like to be able to use the network and sharing center. Is it possible to do this? The storage drive is an older Maxtor Shared Storage drive attached directly to my router.

My guess is that you need a firmware upgrade for you device, network works a little bit diferent in Windows 7.
