Maximum number of file handles allowed for a CIFS/SMB session.
Hi! I am trying to mount a CIFS file system of a Windows 7 server on a Cluster of Linux machines. The same Windows folder has to be mounted several times simultaneously. But it seems that there is a sorts of limit for the number of CIFS sessions I am allowed to open at the same time. I am only able to have 12-14 open sessions simultaneously. Is there any limit for the number of file handles allowed for a CIFS/SMB session? Or is there any limit for the number of open file handles allowed on Windows 7? Is this tunable? How can I adjust it? Best Regards, Sónia

· Hi Sónia, First, I would like to say that there is currently a limit of 20 inbound SMB connections to Windows 7. Regarding our issue, you may refer to the following articles: Mac OS X: How to connect to Windows File Sharing (SMB) Please Note: Since the website is not hosted by Microsoft, the link may change without notice. Hi Sónia, I think it is not tunable by configuring the settings.
