Master Browser shuts down EVENT ID 8021 and 8032
I have a Windows Home Server connected in a workgroup to three other computers. All are running XP Pro with the latest updates and service packs.WHS is the master browser from what I can tell. It is busy all night making backups, and one of the machines (ALF) shuts down from the network, reporting system errors EVENT ID 8021, and 8032. The contents of those errors are below:Event Type: WarningEvent Source: BROWSEREvent Category: NoneEvent ID: 8021Date: 6/1/2010Time: 6:00:28 AMUser: N/AComputer: ALFDescription:The browser was unable to retrieve a list of servers from the browser master \\ALFSERVER on the network \Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{AD1643BB-436A-4715-AFCF-9E5D1532A461}. The data is the error code. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.Data:0000: 000005aa=============Event Type: ErrorEvent Source: BROWSEREvent Category: NoneEvent ID: 8032Date: 6/1/2010Time: 6:02:28 AMUser: N/AComputer: ALFDescription:The browser service has failed to retrieve the backup list too many times on transport \Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{AD1643BB-436A-4715-AFCF-9E5D1532A461}. The backup browser is stopping. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.Data:0000: 000005aaPlease advise as to how I can correct this problem. Any help would be most appreciated. TIA,Leef 1 person needs an answerI do too

Try this article: "Common causes and solutions of browser Event ID 8021 and Event ID 8032 on domain master browsers" <http://support.microsoft.com/kb/135404 >In my experience, this is usually caused by one machine on your network with a firewall. "Internet firewalls can prevent browsing and file sharing" <http://support.microsoft.com/kb/298804 >HTH, JW

1st, I would download a small command line utility called BROWSTAT.EXE (available from Microsoft's System Utilities).execute the utility in each of the 3 plus Home Server systems you have and find out the Master, Backup and Potential Backup Browser for each system.Normally, when the MasterBrowser is busy (doing backup) or down - the Backup Browser will be called upon to be the MasterBrowser and provide the other system the list of available system/server on your Workgroup. The failure of the MasterBrowser to provide the list of systems/servers in your workgroup is normally not a cause of a system shutting down unless that system requires a critical piece of data or apps from other another system to be fully functional - either a shared drive (maybe use for backup data), directory or critical printer. What exactly was ALF doing when it shutdown?
