Master Boot Record
When booting my notebook I received an error that basically said "no boot device available". I rebooted and entered BIOS and both CD/DVD and hard disk were available as boot devices and I confirmed I could boot into Ubuntu with a Live CD. I used a Windows 7 repair disk to resolve the problem which I'm assuming did so by overwriting the master boot record. The computer now boots into Windows but I can no longer accesses the recovery partition to restore everything to factory default conditions. I have examined windows disk management and confirmed the 20GB FAT32 recovery partition is still present. Any suggestions any how to access the recovery partition to restore the notebook to factory default conditions? Thanks.

Ask your notebook manufacturer how to create the correct boot instructions. You can access the contents of the recovery partition by assigning a drive letter to it.

The issue however is as designed the manufacturer processes is not working - the factory installed recovery partition is not available as I had to use a Windows repair disc to fix the MBR. The 20GB FAT32 RECOVERY partition still exists but I can't access it. I have contacted ASUS - haven't heard anything back yet and don't like keeping a solution limited to one response so have been looking for multiple options.
