Mapping a Network Drive in Windows7 to another Server
Several new PC's were implemented with windows7 Professional on them. We're not able to do a drive mapping to our Procom Netforce server from them. The mapping works fine from Win XP Pro. Within Explorer, Map a network drive, The XP drive is mapped as : \\procom\data_dcs. The mapping is the same for the Windows7 PC's but it gets a:"Windows cannot access \\procom\data_dcs" error. I have turned on Network discovery and file sharing. I've set the File Sharing for devices that use 40 or 56 bit encryption flag I can ping the Procom server by both name and IP address from a Command window. Yet I cannot get the drive to map from Windows7.

Have you tried mapping it through the IP address of the server? Also, are you able to access the server by name through the run line?

Found the solution for Windows Server 2003 and Windows 7 client computer: We have the logon script inside the AD user profile: Do the following on your Windows 7 machine: Open Local Security Policies Local Policies Security Options Interactive logon: do not display last user name: enable Log Off, then back On.
