Mapping Network Drive problem Vista can't see mapped drive can see shared folders on other PC
both machines are running vista basic and i set up shared folder the c: drive and mapped the c: drive with the letter z: so in windows explorer on that machine i could see the z drive and click into it and the contents on my c: drive. the problem is on the other pc in my network i could see the shared c: drive but i cant see the z: mapped drive. I enabled file sharing and network discovery and i have password protected sharing disabled. im doing something wrong mapping the drive

They are multiple possible causes. To verify if the drive Z is created, click Start, in the Start Search box type the z:\ and press Enter. If the folder is not opened, follow the steps below to re-create the drive. 1. Click Start->Computer. 2. Click Map network drive. 3. Type the following path \\[IP address of the other computer]\[The share name of the drive C on the computer] click Finish. Please pay attention to the IP address. Do not locate to the shared C drive on this computer by mistake. Additionally, does the issue occur if we map a drive to other shared partition such as D or E on the other computer? Hope it helps.
