Mapped drives disappear on win7 pro machines
Hi; I'm having a strange problem. On our network running a domain. I can map network drives on our XP machines fine. On our two Win7 Pro w SP1 machines they will map, but on reboot or logging off and relogging on, the drive map dissappears and yes the box is checked to reconnect. I've seen dozens of posts with the same problem but I haven't seen anyone posting a solution. Thanks Steve

Hi, Two things come to mind, 1 - What are windows 7 machines identifying the local network as Domain? Private? Is netbios on windows 7 machines turned on? network and sharing center > advanced sharing options 2 - Have you tried mapping those drives via group policy from the dc? Hope this helps, Shah

If you are mapping the drives via script then how about including /persistent switch. Example: NET USE W: \\server\Share /Persistent:yes

Windows 7 is booting faster then the network connection is ready. Are using "Always wait for network..." ? In the Group Policy Object Editor (Gpedit.msc), in Administrative Templates\System\Logon, enable the policy setting Always wait for the network at computer startup and logon. The corresponding registry setting is HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon!SyncForegroundPolicy http://www.verdiem.com/kb/mapped-drives-do-not-connect-after-wake-low-power-state http://support.microsoft.com/kb/297684
