Mapped Drive complains about corrupt recycle bin
I have a Windows 7 machine that has My Documents mapped to a network share on my D-Link DNS-323 NAS unit. Every time the machine is rebooted, it complains about the recycle bin on My Documents being corrupt. Of course, there is no recycle bin there, so how do I get rid of this warning? The same network share is also used on an XP-Pro laptop for My Documents, I never have a problem with that share or any errors. The exact error message: The Recycle Bin on \\DLINK\Volume_1\Bobbi's Documents is corrupted. Do you want to empty the Recycle Bin for this drive? Responding Yes or No doesn't make any difference the error pops up on the next boot anyway.MVP - Windows Desktop Experience

How does it work if you change the location of My Documents on another computer? Does disabling firewall help? If the issue does not work in that case, the issue should be on the NAS. There may be compatibility issues. Arthur Xie - MSFT

I haven't tried that, but I have no issues with the drive for any other operations and Win7. Of course, the real issue is that I don't want it anywhere else, I don't want to have to keep a machine running 24x7 just to host occasional use of this folder.MVP - Windows Desktop Experience

It's because of an issue with Windows 7 and mapped network drives and how it handles the Recycle Bin on mapped network drives. If you 'un-map' it and use a shortcut to the folder or a UNC the issue goes away (because Windows 7 only creates the Recycle Bin on a "drive" (mapped or real).
