Mapped Drive available, but not visible in Explorer
Hello, I have a little annoying issue with a particular Mapped drive on one of my users Laptop. It appears that a mapped drive has been connected and is accessible but not visible in Windows Explorer. So, the user remaps the drive, while doing so you can see that the X: drive is already mapped. The drive is remapped with a error saying do you want to replace the drive as it is already mapped to \\server\folder.... Any ideas how to help enforce the drive to show in windows explorer? or any ideas on what could be blocking it? Geoff

Hi Geoff, Based on my research, I would like to suggest the following: 1. Disconnect the mapped drive and map it again: Create a shortcut to (map) a network drive 2. Create a shortcut for the share folder and see if it will disappear. 3. When the issue occurs, input the drive letter of the mapped drive in Run and see if it will be accessed. 4. Ensure the user is using an administrator account; or change another user account to have a try. Hope this helps. Thanks. Nicholas Li - MSFT

Thank you Nicholas, I will give this a try tomorrow. I have had a similar issue with a XP PC and all it needed was a shortcut on the desktop. Once the shortcut was used, the drive would just show up in Windows Explorer. Do you know what causes this to happen? Geoff.
