Mapped Domain Drives Randomly get Disconnected.
I am the Tech in a school district. We are deploying Window 7 Laptops to the teachers. The teachers log into a Windows 2003 Server, and the logon runs a .bat file that maps 5-6 drives on the admin server and one on the student server. Randomly (not the same day, time, or teacher) all of the mapped drives will disconnect on the admin server, but the student server mapped drive is still active. This also occurs on my machine which is a desktop and not of the same manufacture as the laptops.

You may check related policy on the teachers server. Please refer the following article. Mapped Drive Connection to Network Share May Be Lost This issue can also be caused by firewall. If the solution in the above article does not resolve the issue, please temporary disable the firewall on the server computer and check the result.Arthur Xie - MSFT

Thanks for your response. Looking at that article, first it says it isn't for Windows 7, but past that, it states that the drives reconnect when clicked on them. This is not the case, a complete shutdown and restart is needed to reconnect the mapped drives. Also the firewall on the server is not the issue, we have it turned off and use an external firewall device.

Apparently you need to tell Windows that you want to use the machine as a file server and that it should allocate resources accordingly. Set the following registry key to ‘1′: HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\LargeSystemCache and set the following registry key to ‘3′: HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters\Size After making these changes and restarting, I haven’t seen this issue arise again http://alan.lamielle.net/2009/09/03/windows-7-nonpaged-pool-srv-error-2017

Certainly it is not for Windows 7. The steps in that article should be performed in your server system.Arthur Xie - MSFT

Thanks for your responses. I waited to post any results as we just put in new Cisco switches throughout the building last week and I wanted to wait until that was all done and I had a chance to check it all out again. We did your suggestions and it is still happening. The Error code we get is Event ID 1054.
