Map network drive dialog no longer appearing Windows 7
I just got a new laptop and I wanted to have full access to a couple folders on it from my desktop. I shared the folders on the laptop then attempted to map them on my desktop. For the first share, I went to the desktop, opened Windows Explorer and right clicked "Computer" and selected "Map network drive...". The dialog appeared and I mapped the drive, electing to use other credentials and then using the log-in information from the laptop. Success, as expected. For the next folder, I did the exact same thing, only this time when I clicked "Map network drive...", no dialog appeared. I did it again, nothing. I minimized Windows Explorer and tried Alt+Tab to see if the dialog was misplaced, nothing. I rebooted and tired again, nothing. I tried clicking on "Computer" then clicking the big "Map network drive" button, nothing. I tried using "net use" to add the second mapping with this command: "net use u: \\MyLaptop\ShareName /user:LaptopUserName LaptopPassword" and got the 1219 error (the joys of artificially imposed limitations with zero security benefits!). This is puzzling since the credentials are the same ones I am already using on the first network drive and so should not trigger the 1219 error. I HATE HACK FIXES but I put an alias in my host file to bypass the 1219 error and map my network drive; that will be my solution until someone tells me where my dialog went. Why is the dialog not showing up, how do I get it back, seriously this just worked 5 seconds ago, etc? To clarify, I have mapped the drive using and alias and command line, my issue is the dialog no longer appears.
