Map Drives not showing for domain user
Hello, Today I setup a new laptop for a new employee with Win 7 Pro 64bit. I am starting to test Win 7 for future deployment/upgrade. I joined the lapto to our domain and add the user ad Administrator. When I logged as the user and opened My Computer I did not see any of the map drives that are port of our company setup. In Active Directory in the Profile tab I have "logon.bat" for Logon Script. Do I need to make any changes within Windows 7 OS so that map drives will appear? Thanks.. B

Hi, Please assure that the policy is already applied to the login user on Windows 7. Meanwhile, please run “gpupdate /force” in Command Console to force GPO applied to Windows 7. If the issue persists, I suggest you create another domain account and apply the same policy for a test. If the issue still occurs after performing above steps, 1. On the DC, open GPMC, right-click Group Policy Results, choose Group Policy Results Wizard, follow the wizard to collect a Group Policy result for problematic Windows 7 client. 2. On the Windows 7 machine where GPO failed to apply, please perform the following steps to collect log files: a) Please add the specified registry key to enable group policy log (%windir%\debug\usermode\gpsvc.log), and remove or rename it to disable group policy log after collecting data. You may need to create the Diagnostics key if it is not there. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Diagnostics Type: DWORD Value: GPSvcDebugLevel Data: 0x30002 (hexadecimal) b) Then on the problematic Win7 machine, run command “gpupdate /force”. c) Then on the problematic Win7 machine, run command “gpresult /v > gpr_win7.txt”, send me gpr_win7.txt file. d) On the problematic Win7 machine, run command “eventvwr”, then expand to Applications and service logs -> Microsoft -> windows -> groupPolicy -> Operational. Right-click on it and click “save event as”. Save the file as .evtx format and send it to me. e) After that, please send me the above output files. (please zip them first and then send them to me). - %windir%\debug\usermode\gpsvc.log - gpr_win7.txt - win7.evtx Please use Windows Live SkyDrive (http://www.skydrive.live.com/) to upload the GPMC result and the zip files, and then give us the download address. Thanks, Novak

When I try to run the Group Policy Results Wizard on the computer with Issues it keeps telling me that "Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) is not enabled on target computer" I checked the WMI service and it is running. So not sure what other services must be running? Thanks, B

I ran manually the logon.bat script on the user's machine and the mapped drives appeared under My Computer. I restarted the laptop and the mapped drives remained listed. It has been 2 days now and the mapped drive still showing.
