Many programmes crash when I try to run them
Hi I'm using a Toshiba Satellite Pro C660-1NR running Windows 7 Professional Service Pack 1 6.1.7601 I have recently installed a few programmes that I have always used on other systems such as 'Google Sketchup 8' and 'DraftSight'. However, after installation, when I o to run the programmes they crash. Google Sketchup 8 gives me their infamous Bugsplat message, simply saying an error has occured. DraftSight gives me the message 'DraftSight has stopped working'. It loads for a bit, and then just closes down. I need to use these programmes for my work, and have got very frustrated that they will not work. I have tried all sorts from restarting, reinstalling, clean rebooting etc etc. I have made sure that they are the latest versions of the software also. My CPU info if it helps: Intel Core i3 CPU M380 @2.53GHz If anyone has any information that could help fix my problem, it would be much appreciated. I really need these programmes to work, or else it was a real waste of money buying this laptop.

I have tried numerous compatibility types, and they still crash. Wouldnt let me sign in as the same username as before for some reason?

This is a situation which has no clear cut answer. Either there is something wrong with your system or the programs you downloaded are not good downloads. I just downloaded both programs and installed then on my Windows 7 Professional 64-bit with SP1 system and they both are fully functional. No errors when starting and no errors when using the programs. It is virtually impossible to diagnose your problem based on what you have posted in this forum and come up with a viable solution. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Soounds like you need to take your laptop in for warranty work. See information @ http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/help/contact-support If Windowswas already installed on your computer when you purchased it, your computer manufacturer provides support for Windows. Uninstall and reinstall these programs and see the result. Also test in Clean Boot in case of any third-party services conflicts. Regards, MiyaMiya Yao TechNet Community Support

Hey Jordangp, I've just bought a Toshiba Satellite Pro C660-1LD today with the exact same specs as yours with the specific purpose for using it with draftsight for university assignments. Any program I have tried to download closes with problems however I have the exact same error with draftsight. It loads and before it opens "draftsight has stopped working and needs to close". Have you managed to solve the problem? I cannot understand what the problem could be. I feel there may be a problem with the models of these laptops. Any help for a computer simpleton would be greatly appreciated.

It may be something with the Toshiba hardware or it may be something with the Toshiba drivers or some software installed by Toshiba. As I stated before, I downloaded and installed both programs on my system and they are fully functional.
