Manage Mobile Broadband connection with VPN

Hello,

I've been looking into this subject for a couple of days now but I can't seem to find an answer to a problem we're experiencing at work. - I have a feeling there might be a simple solution for this but i can't get quite put my finger on it.
Here goes:

We're testing a new Dell 2-in-1 device (Latitude 7350) that has a build in Mobile Broadband modem (Model: Dell Wireless 5810e Mobile Broadband).
After installing just Windows 8.1 Update 1 Enterprise Edition x64, with all the latest updates and enabling Mobile Broadband - that is, pressing 'Connect' and entering the PIN-code- it does manage the connections as we wish, as it should, as described by Mircosoft Im happy about that.

Though, once we install our VPN software (Global Protect 2.2.1) and make a connection, a switch between sending data over Mobile Broadband and WiFi does no longer happen

What happens is that once the VPN-tunnel is build over 3G/4G.. the data is kept being send over the Mobile Broadband connection, even if Windows has (also) connected to our WiFi.
We have to manually press "Rediscover network" on our VPN software -or 'Disconnect' at the Mobile Broadband - before the tunnel is rebuild and data is transferred over the WiFi network.

We assume that this is a Global Protect issue and have made a case at Palo Alto Networks, but we are looking for a temporary workaround.

I notice Windows does no longer Disconnect the Mobile Broadband connection automatically when Wi-Fi is connected and both have the status Connected. I believe this behavior is not a bug and wanted by Mircosoft.

However I assume there might be registry settings telling Windows to keep Mobile Broadband 'Connected' even when Wi-Fi is 'Connected'. Or maybe a 'trigger' that writes a 0, 1, 2.. in a registry telling "Wi-Fi is connected"

I would write a script to change these settings to 'Disconnect' Mobile Broadband if another connection is made..

FYI: We tried this with a 3rd party software, 'Vodafone Mobile Broadband' but the Dell Modem is not supported

If you guys have any suggestions, please let me know.

Greetz
