Malware blocks ability to load antivirus software
There appears to be some kind of adware/malware/spyware on my pc that prevents me from loading any kind of anti spyware software. Even the MS windows update page won't open. I can't load any SP's, update IE - ANYTHING!!! I can access the internet, surf, etc.. but if I use any of the search engines and click on a result, a totally different screen will pop up. I have to close that screen then click on the intended result, then it will open which leads me to believe it to be an adware. Any idea's as to how to identify it and get rid of it. I'm sure there will be some registry manipulation. Please help!!!1 person needs an answerI do too

Some possible ways to clean up the computer:Start the computer in Safe mode with Networking, then update your antivirus/antispyware programs and run scans.Using another computer, download a stand-alone malware cleaner like VIPRE Rescue Program or Kaspersky Rescue Disk . Get expert help in a malware removal forum like the ones at BleepingComputer.com or Aumha.org . Read about the options for no-charge virus removal support from Microsoft. Thanks for the link. That was the first time I was able to actually access that site. I tried to load Superantispy before and couldn't even get the page to open. System is scanning now.

Other than that you may try safemode with networking but you may run full scan with:http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htmIn safemode.

Tried just about every link provided and ran all the scans. None said to have found any spyware or adware, but the same problem persists. Try to open windows update - The Page Cannot Be Displayed. Go to load any kind of update from MS website - The Page Cannot Be Displayed. Something has happened to my machine, I just can't seem to pinpoint it.

Check the Hosts file and remove any lines that contain "microsoft.com" or "windowsupdate". To open the file, type this command in the Start > Search box: notepad %systemroot%\system32\drivers\etc\hostsIf that doesn't help and none of the links that we've given help, I recommend getting help in one of the specialized malware removal forums that I mentioned.Boulder Computer Maven Microsoft Most Valuable Professional

Nothing there. Thanks for the assistance this far. I'll check the malware removal forums. Seems that whatever infected my pc did so in such a way as to protect itself from discovery and removal in the registry
