after upgrading to the 8.1 preview on my surface RT I noticed that the mail app no longer works.

It wont sync. I have rebooted my surface but that didn't fix the issue.

I then tried to remove an account and add it back but it now cant connect when trying to add my gmail account. Not sure what to try next.

It seems lots of people are having issues with Mail, myself included - I too have tried the steps recommended, and have uninstalled, rebooted and re-installed several times.

I have got to the point where mail will sync once or twice every day or two, but the rest of the time sits there 'Synching' without my new email appearing. This worked fine in 8.0, so clearly something has gone awry. I understand that this is beta, but it needs sorting before the full release, otherwise lots of people are going to be very annoyed!

Since the 8.1 update, I can't add my gmail or work email accounts.

in 8.0 I had 2 outlook accounts and my gmail account all working nicely together in the same email client app.

Something is broken, please can yo ufix it?

Don't know why this is marked as answered as it is clearly still an issue. The Mail app is broke in Preview. Worked great beofre upgrading

identical problem here. Upgraded to 8.1 on my Surface RT. None of my 5 accounts sync (Hotmail, gmail, att). I did a refresh but that didn't help. I uninstalled the Mail app, rebooted and reinstalled. that helped but only for 1 day and I have to repeat it. The same accounts work perfectly fine in Outlook 2013 on my Surface RT.

I am willing to troubleshoot the issue. Please advise

Same here. Tried everything posted on the internet, nothing works.

Got the same Probleme with 8.1 on my Surface RT. Neither my Outlook.com nor my Corporate Exchange account syncs. Reinstalling the mail app didn't help. The folder structure and the Inbox folder of my Outlook.com account syncs the first time after the installation, all other folders doesn't sync at all! The Exchange account isn't working at all... Meanwhile syncing in Outlook Desktop app works fine.
