Mail Account Not Available

Hello,

Basically my Live account is not syncing in my Mail app. All of the other accounts I have seem to be syncing and working as normal. I have had other problems with my laptop recently with a DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE appearing every so often during startup.

Could this be related in anyway? I have not made any changes to the settings for the Mail app, and I have installed the latest Windows updates.

"Driver Power State Failure" is an error that is mostly displayed due to incompatible or inappropriate driver. In order to fix Drive Power State Failure error in Windows 8, the computer must be restarted in safe mode, and the problematic driver must be uninstalled.

On Device Manager window, expand the category of the device that has some issues. Once expanded, right-click the driver of the problematic device that is to be uninstalled. From the context menu that appears, click Uninstall to remove the selected driver. Once uninstalled restart the system.

Regarding mail issue:

Are you able to access the Hotmail/Live mail  account on web browser ?

Try running the Apps troubleshooter

Hi Terra25012,

If only the specific account will come across this issue, we can try to remove and re-join the account to have a check.

Best regards

Hi I will try that for the DRIVER error - it hasn't showed up in a few days, and there seemed to be a few problems with updates that I have dealt with as well.

I have tried the Apps troubleshooter, and can access the account in the browser. But it is still showing as unavailable in the Mail app.

I did just disconnect the Live account from my laptop, and reconnect it again. But still the Mail app is not updating that account.

We do need the actual log files (called a DMP files) as they contain the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

Please follow our instructions for finding and uploading the files we need to help you fix your computer. They can be found here If you have any questions about the procedure please ask

Hi Terra25012,

Have you tried to login on web browser to verify the Windows Live account can work well? Have you checked the configurations of "download new e-mail"?

1.On Start, tap or click Mail.
2.Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Settings.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click Settings.)
3.Tap or click Accounts.
4.Tap or click the account you want.
5.Under Download new email .

We can refer to the following link to check the settings of this account.

I should download new email as they arrive. I have checked on the browser, and it's fine. It's also coming through on my tablet. But nothing on my laptop - I press sync and it just tells me that it is unavailable.

In order to help you effectively we need to know exactly what email system you are using.  You can see the differences here

Hi Terra25012,

Is there any error message recorded in the Event Viewer?(Event Viewer\Windows Logs\Application)

"disconnect the Live account from my laptop, and reconnect it again"
Do you mean you have removed the specific account and re-added the account?

Have you tried to update the Mail Apps to have a check?
If the issue persists, I am afraid we may need to reinstall this Store App and re-configure the account to have a check.

No error message.

Yes, as in I changed to a local account, and then back again to see if this would make any difference.

It did not.

There is no update available for this app at the moment.

Hi Terra25012,

"Remove the account"
I mean we could remove the account from the Mail App and then re-add it.
Here is a link for reference:

For some reason it has decided to update itself after around 3 weeks of nothing.

I have no idea why this has happened as I haven't changed anything...

But thank you for your suggestions.
